Scanpix (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data of our users (“you”). This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and safeguards your information in compliance with Google Play Store policies.
1. Information We Collect and Process
- Images and Scanned Content: When you scan documents or import images from your gallery, the application processes these files solely to perform scanning, cropping, optical character recognition (OCR), image compression, and file format conversions.
- Document and File Data: When you select documents (such as PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), CSV, and plain text files) for viewing, merging, or conversion, the app accesses those files only to execute the requested operation.
- Device and Usage Information: We may collect non-identifiable technical data (such as app crash logs, device model, operating system version, and general usage statistics) through standard mobile analytics to diagnose technical issues and optimize performance.
2. On-Device Processing and Data Security
- Local Document Processing: All document scanning, conversions, and text recognition (OCR)—including on-device machine learning via Google ML Kit—are handled locally on your device.
- No Server Storage: We do not upload, store, or monitor your scanned documents, personal photos, or converted files on remote servers. Your files remain exclusively under your local storage and control.
3. Permissions Required and Why
Scanpix requests specific device permissions strictly necessary to deliver core functionalities:
- Camera Permission (
android.permission.CAMERA): Required to capture photos of physical documents, receipts, notes, and IDs directly within the app for scanning and OCR. - Storage / Photos & Media Permission (
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE,READ_MEDIA_IMAGES,READ_MEDIA_DOCUMENTS): Required to import existing photos, PDFs, or office documents from your storage for conversion, merging, or compression, and to save processed output files back to your device.
You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time through your device’s Settings > Apps > Scanpix > Permissions. Revoking permissions may limit specific app capabilities (such as capturing new scans).
4. Third-Party Services
Scanpix relies on trusted standard libraries to support functionality:
- Google ML Kit: Used to provide on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Processing occurs on the local device without sending raw image data to external third parties.
- Google Play Services: Used for app integrity, crash reporting, and standard delivery services provided by Google LLC.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal content or file data to third-party advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Because Scanpix processes your files locally on your device, we do not maintain a cloud copy of your files.
- To delete scanned or converted files, you can delete them directly within the app or from your device’s file manager.
- Uninstalling the application removes all app-specific local cache and application data stored in internal app directories.
6. Children’s Privacy
Scanpix is a general-audience utility app and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app updates, technical changes, or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted here with an updated “Effective Date.”
